The Lubrizol Corporation is an innovative specialty chemical company that produces and supplies technologies that improve the quality and performance of our customers' products in the global transportation, industrial and consumer markets. These technologies include lubricant additives for engine oils, other transportation-related fluids and industrial lubricants, as well as fuel additives for gasoline and diesel fuel. In addition, Lubrizol makes ingredients and additives for personal care products and pharmaceuticals; specialty materials, including plastics technology; and performance coatings in the form of specialty resins and additives. Lubrizol's industry-leading technologies in additives, ingredients and compounds enhance the quality, performance and value of customers' products, while reducing their environmental impact.
Our business is founded on technological leadership. From a base of more than 1,600 patents, we use our product development and formulation expertise to sustain our leading market positions and fuel our future growth. We create additives, ingredients, resins and compounds that enhance the performance, quality and value of our customers’ products, while minimizing their environmental impact. Our products are used in a broad range of applications, and are sold into markets such as those for engine oils, specialty driveline lubricants and metalworking fluids, as well as personal care and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products and performance coatings and inks. Our engineered polymers products also are used in a variety of industries, including construction, sporting goods, medical products and automotive. We are an industry leader in many of the markets in which our product lines compete.
We are geographically diverse, with an extensive global manufacturing, supply chain, technical and commercial infrastructure. We operate facilities in 27 countries, including production facilities in 19 countries and laboratories in 12 countries, in key regions around the world through the efforts of more than 6,900 employees. We sell our products in more than 100 countries and believe that our customers value our ability to provide customized, high quality, cost-effective performance formulations and solutions worldwide. Lubrizol Additives
For 80 years Lubrizol has pioneered the development of lubricant additives. Today, we are a leading global supplier of fuel and lubricant additives for transportation and industrial lubricants, providing quality products and innovative solutions to lubricant and fuel marketers around the world. Our customers rely on Lubrizol technology to improve the performance of their lubricants and fuels, which in turn improve the performance and lifespan of critical components such as engines, transmissions and gear drives for cars, trucks, buses, off-highway equipment, and marine and industrial applications.
Product Lines
Engine oil additives are used in a wide-range of applications including cars, trucks, buses, mining and construction equipment, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, power tools, stationary gas engines, marine vessels, and more. In addition, we offer a full range of gasoline, diesel, and biofuel additives that improve engine performance, fuel economy, emissions, and engine life.
Lubrizol provides driveline and industrial additives. We are the only additive company with a product line that covers all on- and off-road driveline applications. We provide innovative transmission fluid, gear oil and farm tractor fluid technologies to ensure equipment runs better and lasts longer.
We also offer performance additives and components for a wide range of industrial lubrication applications. Our additive technology helps to protect hydraulic systems, industrial gears, bearings and metalworking tools and parts.
Lubrizol Advanced Materials
Our rich legacy of technological achievements and product innovations extends back to the 1870’s (formerly BFGoodrich Performance Materials). We are a leading global producer of advanced specialty polymers, polymer-based additives, and chemical additives for a broad range of consumer and industrial applications. Our additives and ingredients are used in personal care products and pharmaceuticals; specialty materials, including plastics technology; and performance coatings in the form of specialty resins and additives.
Product Lines
Noveon® Consumer Specialties offers a versatile line of ingredients that have a long history of successful use in personal care, home care and pharmaceutical formulations. Key products include synthetic and naturally-derived rheology modifiers and thickeners, fixative polymers, surfactants, specialty silicones, emulsifiers, film formers, elegant sensory modifiers and pharmaceutical ingredients. In addition, Noveon® Consumer Specialties offers a line of food hydrocolloids for unique natural food texturizers in human and pet food applications.
Recognized brand names include Carbopol® polymers; Pemulen® polymeric emulsifiers; Fixate™ hair fixative polymers, SilSense™ specialty silicones; Schercemol™ and Hydramol™ specialty esters; methyl glucoside derivatives such as Glucamate™ thickeners and Glucam™ emulsifiers; Amidex™ and Sulfochem™ surfactants; and RheoRanger™ and Diagum™ hydrocolloids.
The Engineered Polymers product line includes two product areas:TempRite® Engineered Polymers is the only global supplier of both chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) resins and compounds and Crosslinked Polyethylene (PEX) compounds that have applications in fire sprinklers, plumbing, industrial piping, construction and fluid handling. Marketed under the FBC™ Building Solutions umbrella are the following brands and technologies:
- FlowGuard Gold® CPVC pipe and fittings – the most specified non-metallic plumbing system in the country because of its fast and easy, one-step solvent cement joining system and corrosion resistance (available in diameters up to 2”).
- BlazeMaster® CPVC fire sprinkler systems – the most specified non-metallic fire sprinkler system in the world, offering the same easy installation and corrosion resistance as FlowGuard Gold pipe and fittings.
- Corzan® CPVC piping systems – a larger diameter, corrosion-resistant piping system ideal for use as risers and mains in larger commercial buildings and industrial applications.
- FlowGuard™ Flex piping system – an innovative, three-layer PEX piping system offering unprecedented protection against UV and chlorine degradation.
- FlowGuard® Bendable composite piping – a pliable, cost-effective alternative to Type L (soft) copper, ideal for underslab applications because it combines the corrosion resistance of CPVC with the strength and flexibility of aluminum.
- FlowGuard® MultiPort CPVC Manifold – the company’s newest innovation provides maximum versatility, adapting to either CPVC or PEX piping and allowing for any number of ports during installation and in future expansion.
- TempRite® HDX220 Technology – an advanced formulation that allows for the manufacture of darker-colored cladding and fencing without concerns of warping or fading as a result of its higher heat tolerance.
Estane® Engineered Polymers is marketed under the trade names of Estane® Thermoplastic Polyurethanes (TPU), Thermedics™ Polymer Products, and Conductive Polymers. Each brand represents the widest selection of applications available today for various markets. Estane TPU is an engineered, highly versatile thermoplastic polyurethane that can be processed through film, sheet and fabric coating, extrusion molding, injection molding, calendaring, overmolding, and blowmolding for markets like wire and cable, hose and tube, optical, industrial, agriculture, etc. Thermedics Polymers is the technology leader in medical TPU resins, but is forward integrated into extruded medical tubing as well. All medical tubing is produced on a custom order basis to ensure exact customer dimensions and configuration. It is subject to strict quality control criteria at each stage of production. Conductive Polymers also known as Stat-Rite® Polymers provides the widest selection of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection materials available today from a single source material supplier for any process or technology. All materials meet today’s ESD and micro-contamination standards.
Performance Coatings is a leading global producer of high performance polymers and specialty additives for paints, coatings and adhesives; graphic arts; textiles and specialty paper; and plastics. From the resins and polymers that bind the system together to the specialty additives that enhance performance, we supply the technology to help you formulate the innovative products demanded in today’s marketplace, as well as tomorrow's. Our broad product portfolio helps improve durability, enhance aesthetic appeal, strengthen resistance to chemicals, water and abrasion and aid manufacturing -- all while helping manufacturers to meet increasingly stringent demands for higher performance and lower-VOC emissions.
