The FlowGuard™ Flex 3 layer piping solution is ideal for use in domestic potable hot and cold water plumbing. FlowGuard Flex 3 layer piping also may be used in other commercial or industrial applications where standard polyethylene pipe products are not adequate. Designed to bend easily around corners and obstacles, the added flexibility of the FlowGuard Flex 3 layer piping solution makes system installation easy and requires a minimum number of fittings, thus reducing installation time and costs.
Proper installation plays a key role in pipe performance. FlowGuard Flex piping should always be installed in accordance with applicable plumbing and/or building codes.
An Installation Handbook for cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) hot and cold water distribution systems is published by the Plastic Pipe and Fittings Association (the "PPFA Handbook") and can be obtained at www.ppfahome.org.
This reference is provided for informational purposes only and is not intended as an endorsement or recommendation of the PPFA Handbook. In particular, please note the following:
The use of the ASTM 1960 fittings, as found on page 14 and 15 of the PPFA Handbook, is not recommended with FlowGuard Flex piping. Extensive laboratory testing indicates that the effectiveness of the ASTM 1960 fitting assembly may be compromised by variables such as installation technique and ambient temperature at the time of installation.
Although not mentioned in the PPFA Handbook, the ASTM 2098 clamp ring is also not recommended with FlowGuard Flex piping. Certain weaknesses associated with this clamp may affect the performance of the system.
